linoleum

Linoleum flooring is one of the most popular choices for high traffic areas in the house or at the workplace. It comes in a range of colors and styles. When it comes to care and maintenance, few materials can compare to it. The best part about linoleum is that it is comprised of several different layers. This gives it plenty of resistance to scuffing and scratching.

Linoleum is made of a number of different materials that include wood flour, ground cork dust, pine rosin and solidified linseed oil. There are also mineral fillers, such as calcium carbonate. This composite material is pigmented for color and texture, and put on a canvas or burlap backing. The combination of ingredients makes a firm material that is an ideal floor covering.

With so many options out there for flooring materials, it helps to know everything possible about the different types of floors. Knowing everything about how linoleum is made and what ingredients are in it can help flooring installers and flooring contractors best advise their clients.
