Proper Side Match for Linoleum Floors

Linoleum flooring is one of the most durable and versatile on the market today. It is definitely among the most pattern-friendly flooring materials with a range of colors, textures, and looks. However, poor side matching often causes seams to become visible during installation.

People enjoy intricate patterns on the floor. They also appreciate the ease of maintenance. These are just a few of the reasons why people choose linoleum for their living and working spaces. Patterns range from simple monochromatic tile looks to complicated patterns that dazzle the eye. When installing patterned linoleum, it’s important to ensure a proper side match. This means that the pattern on both sides of the seam mirrors each other, making the seam between the two sheets nearly invisible.

Customers often complain about a bad installation job. In many cases, poor installation practices cause the problem. Installers fail to align the patterns correctly. With a bad side match, the flooring simply doesn’t look good. The flooring installers need to make sure the patterns are not poorly matched and should adjust the sheets accordingly before permanently taking care of the seams with seam sealer. Installers and contractors can avoid customer complaints about side matching when they take extra care to side match by ensuring that everything lines up and the seams for the linoleum are just right.
