Carpet inspectors have a lot of things they need to accomplish whenever they visit a job site. Besides being an expert in all kinds of flooring, they need to be able to assess a problem and figure out what caused it. Their assessment is important because it has the potential to influence clients, carpet manufacturers, insurance companies and more. That’s why they need to be able to back up any claims they make with factual statements.

When a carpet inspector is on a job site, not every party will have a representative. The inspector needs to remain unbiased and figure out what caused the carpet issue and document everything in order to back up their findings.

So what is the best way for a carpet inspector to back up factual statements in a report? Of course, photographs provide the best visuals for carpet issues. However, carpet inspectors must ensure time/date stamps on every photo submitted in a report. They should also provide detailed measurements as required for the report. The carpet inspector must include any tests or lab results in the report.

Carpet inspectors are called in to be a neutral observer to the conditions of the carpet in question. They need to back up any findings with evidence and experience.
