Dear Rob:
I own a dance studio, and we recently installed engineered hardwood in one of our rooms. This floor looks great and is easily maintained. However, it is too slippery for our dancers to be on their toes. Can you recommend a finish that will provide a little friction, while not compromising the look?

Dear Rachel:
Wood floors can be very slick, which can present a hazard in certain applications. Fortunately, there are hardwood floor finish products that are designed to be slip-resistant. A particular product I can recommend is Bona Traffic Anti Slip. It has a matte finish, so it may not look the same as your current floor finish. I’d highly recommend finding a local installer who can bring in some sample boards coated in Anti Slip to see if it will meet your needs.
