Glue-down carpet is a very popular choice for many residential and commercial properties. The installer uses a powerful adhesive to glue the carpet directly to the prepared floor. For the most part, the carpet is long-lasting and durable, but there are times when glue-down carpet installation fails.

The reason why so many people like glue-down carpet is that it has a low profile with minimal buckling. Other advantages include it as a good transition between hard surfaces and other areas. Also, it is ideal for wheelchairs and heavy traffic. Some people don’t like the lack of a pad because it is not as comfortable and wears faster.

Some of the reasons why glue-down carpet may fail include when there is too much moisture in the concrete subfloor or when the wrong kind of adhesive is being used. Sometimes the installer fails to acclimate the adhesive, or they use the wrong amount during the installation. There are just a few of the common causes for a glue-down carpet installation job to fail.
