What are the four classified groups of marble/stone products? When it comes to hard surface flooring, there are so many options that it may be hard for clients to decide. When they are struggling to figure out which one is best for their home or business, flooring contractors can provide some helpful advice. Looking at each of the four classified groups of marble and stone products can give clients a better understanding of what they really want.

Ceramic

Ceramic tiles are made of ground clay that is shaped, dried, glazed, and fired. These tiles have different water absorption rates that help determine where they are best used in the home or office.

Porcelain

Porcelain tiles are a special type of ceramic product that is quite popular, either glazed or unglazed. They have a water absorption rate of less than 0.5 percent, which makes them ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and entryways.

Natural Stone

Stone flooring, such as marble or granite, is a classic choice due to its beauty and durability. They hold up well against staining and wear and tear.

Glass

Highly resistant to stain, mildew, and mold, glass tiles also hold up well to wear and tear. These tiles are also durable and easy to clean. However, they are often more expensive than other flooring options.

Clients will have far fewer headaches when they know the pros and cons of each hard surface material option. Flooring contractors can provide the education they need to focus on which product will be best for them.
