type 6 nylon

The most popular material used for carpet fiber today is nylon. Besides being durable and easy to care for, nylon carpets are extremely beautiful. Because it is a synthetic fiber, nylon is also affordable and plentiful. It is also resilient, strong and stands up to pressure quite well. All these characteristics are ideal for the fibers that make carpet so it’s easy to see why nylon is so sought after.

Type 6 nylon is one of two types of nylon strands used in carpeting. The other is type 6,6. They are so named because of their chemical components. Type 6 nylon is the most common synthetic carpet fiber and boasts color fastness, static resistance, durability and strength. Carpets made from this kind of nylon come in a range of colors and prices, making them a fine choice for all kinds of applications.
