Chances are that a slip and fall accident will happen at the workplace at some point, and it’s likely that Juneau business owners will end up in court at a liability lawsuit at least once in their career. When that happens, it’s important to have a Juneau slip and fall expert witness around to provide facts and information to both parties.

Minimizing Slip and Fall Accidents at Work

Juneau business owners should work with walkway auditors before any type of slip and fall accident happens. Because flooring at the workplace does get neglected sometimes, there are things that business owners can do to minimize the risks.

Here are 3 things that Juneau business owners can do to ensure that they are much less likely to be found negligent due to a slip and fall accident at work:

Have a floor maintenance plan. Create a guide on what to do in the event of a spill at work. Include several training sessions for employees and even hold some real-life training where employees have to take care of a spill. Hold regular training on floor maintenance and safety, and keep records of all sessions.

  1. Keep walkways clutter-free. Clutter, obstacles and debris in walkways, hallways, flights of stairs and entrances/exits are some of the biggest causes of trips and falls. Whether it’s electric cords stretched across a hallway, boxes of papers lining the entrance or something similar, clutter compromises foot traffic and opens the door for liability lawsuits.
  2. Maintain, repair and replace. Keep up on maintenance and repair work for every flooring surface and get things fixed as soon as possible. Loose tiles, runs in carpet, uneven flooring and more are much easier and less expensive to tend to right away than being found liable in a slip and fall lawsuit.

Juneau business owners have a responsibility to their employees and customers to create a low risk environment for slip and fall accidents. It’s never too early to start.

Value of a Juneau Slip and Fall Expert Witness

During a liability lawsuit, it’s critical that both business owners and slip and fall victims get an expert to speak on their behalf to present the facts about the flooring. A Juneau slip and fall expert witness will review the conditions of the flooring, as well as any other contributing factors, and present accurate and trustworthy information to the court. Juneau slip and fall expert witnesses should have plenty of experience in the flooring industry, and know about walkway auditing and flooring inspections as well.

Instead of leaving such an important event without an expert opinion, business owners and victims of slip and fall accidents should get a Juneau slip and fall expert witness on their side. Rob McNealy of Flooristics has years of experience in the industry and has appeared as an expert witness across the country. For an unbiased analysis, call Flooristics.
