Properly maintaining hardwood floors is the best way to keep it beautiful and long-lasting. However, many business owners and home owners are not sure of what to do to take care of their new floors. Learning the steps to general maintenance on wood floors is important for top performance and minimal problems.

Here are the 3 steps to caring and maintaining hardwood floors:

  1. Sweep the floor every day with a microfiber broom, mop or cloth. This will help prevent scratching and other damage from grit and dirt. The cleaning pads will also pick up dust, allergens and more.
  2. Once per week, plan on vacuuming the hardwood floor. However, owners should make sure that the vacuum is safe to use on wood and avoid pulling the vacuum in such a way that it creates scratches.
  3. Mopping should be done once per week as well, but only with a damp mop. Too much moisture can ruin the wood flooring. It’s ok to use cleaning products specifically designed to clean hardwood but avoid things like soap, vinegar and wax, which will only dull the hardwood flooring.

When it comes to preserving the life and look of wood floors, business owners and home owners should pay attention and use the right products at the right time.
