Seam Sealers for Carpet

Carpet is beautiful, durable, and can stand up to lots of traffic both in the home and at the office. One of the best indications of a professional and skilled carpet installation is that no seams are visible. Every inch of the carpet should look as good as the next. Carpet installers must learn about seam sealers, what they are, and the different types.

Carpet seam sealer takes care of the edges of the carpet where it is cut so that the fibers don’t unravel. The sealer is not the same as carpet tape, which holds two edges of carpet together. Installers can apply seam sealers using a hot melt, latex, or solvent base. If the installer is not careful, the sealer glue can reach the top of the carpet, leaving a hardened residue or discoloration. Installers need to take great care that the seam sealer only stays on the carpet backing. Once you apply it, it should make it difficult for the yarn to pull away from the backing material.
