Does Warranty Status Influence a Flooring Inspector’s Claim?

warranty for floorFlooring material usually comes with some kind of manufacturer’s warranty. Flooring inspectors usually enter a job site to provide an impartial view of the causes of a flooring issue. Whether an inspection is for a residential owner, business owner, insurance company, or something else, the flooring inspector must remain unbiased and only focus on the problems at hand and how to solve them.

Sometimes, flooring inspectors feel tempted to recommend repair or replacement based on whether the warranty is still in place. However, this approach is not good practice. Inspectors should evaluate the condition and repair potential based only on what they observe and what they know. A warranty should not influence their findings. It should not lead them to recommend actions outside their normal practice. In other words, the warranty status should not affect the inspection process.

By staying neutral and sticking to creating reports that are based on the facts at hand, flooring inspectors can continue to earn the trust of clients, insurance companies, and manufacturers alike.
