Why are Staple Fibers Blended?

Most commercial and residential carpets have staple fibers blended. When it comes to strength and beauty in carpeting, there are many fibers to choose from. However, there is no single fiber that is ideal for every use and location. Of course, because carpet is subject to lots of wear and abuse via foot traffic, spills, and more, people want the most durable and resilient carpet. That’s why it’s common to choose staple fiber carpets.

But what is staple fiber? This type of carpet uses staple yarns, produced in short lengths and spun and twisted together. Manufacturers then form these into long threads and tuft them into carpet.

Manufacturers commonly blend staple fibers with other fiber types. This allows manufacturers to get the best results and achieve the look and performance they desire. It makes the fibers uniform and allows them to compensate for several characteristics in the fiber.

When the latest technology and developments in creating long-lasting fibers are implemented into carpet production, it’s a good thing for manufacturers and clients alike.
