Are Anti-Static Treatments Applied to All Carpets?

Carpet is an excellent choice for flooring because it is durable and comes in a range of styles and looks. Carpeting can be made from natural or man-made fibers. Clients have several different treatment options they may use to extend the life and look of their carpeting. One of the more common treatments for man-made fiber carpets is an anti-static treatment.

Every time someone walks across a carpet, it generates static electricity. Anti-static treatments for carpet can reduce or eliminate the static that foot traffic generates. The manufacturing process incorporates many of these applications anyhow. Several products exist on the market for manual application that provide water-based solutions applied to the surface of the carpet.

Clients need to know that, since carpets come with a warranty, there are some instances where applying a topical treatment can invalidate that. In addition to anti-static treatments, warranties may not hold up if clients apply other things like deodorizers, soil retardants, stain repellents, and more on their own.

Many homeowners and businesses use anti-static treatment in residential and commercial areas, especially where computers and other electronics are present. Static electricity can ruin certain electronic devices, so an anti-static application on the carpet can save a lot of money.
