Original Texas A&M Basketball Floor Uncovered

I was looking at the news and found this great story from Texas A&M Athletics .   The university is currently in the midst of demolishing the historic G. Rollie White Coliseum, as part of the redevelopment of Kyle Field, and when they were pulling out the existing basketball floor, they uncovered an older floor with the original university’s logo, which dates back to 1954!  The university is now auctioning off the pieces to Aggies fans to bid on.

“I would equate uncovering the original G. Rollie White floor to finding a buried treasure that no one knew existed,” said Clint Netherland, facility manager for Texas A&M Athletics. “Our team was extremely excited to not only discover the floor, but also have an opportunity to share it with other Aggies.”

One of the things I love about remodels is finding hidden treasures like this.  You never know what sort of history lies just beneath the surface.

Have you ever found anything interesting during a remodel?  If so, please leave a comment below.
