Many clients today want flooring that resists dirt and grit and contains a stain blocker. Carpet is a popular floor covering for many clients. It doesnt’ matter whether they are homeowners or business owners. Flooring contractors and installers should know about the different kinds of carpets and their features. Then they can better help their customers. One feature that is very popular among clients shopping for carpet is a stain blocker capability. Stain protection combines technology and chemistry to make carpets last longer.

New carpet is treated with a soil-resistant carpet protection during the manufacturing process. The stain protection is a foam fluorochemical treatment that is applied to the fibers of the carpet. Over time, the fibers flex and bend, which causes the protective coating to wear off. Professional carpet cleaners can reapply the stain protection coating to continue the long-lasting resistance to dirt, grime and grit.
