It may seem like any old vacuum will work on just about any carpet. While this is true, there are some machines that are better on certain types of carpet.

Not only is carpet beautiful and long-lasting, it is affordable. When carpet is being installed, it’s common to have lots of questions about how to care for it and what to do to keep it looking as good as it does when it was first installed. Vacuuming regularly is the number one best way to preserve a carpet’s looks and keep it clean.

With a range of vacuum styles out there, it’s no wonder that some people are confused about which one to use on their carpet. Basically, it depends on what is installed.

Low pile carpets are most appropriate for upright vacuums that have a revolving brush roller. This agitates the carpet fibers, which combines with powerful suction to get them very clean. Carpets with high pile should use straight air vacuums. These are often canister-style vacuums that have a long wand that pulls dirt straight up into the machine. Using a brush style vacuum on a high pile carpet can cause the fibers to frizz or fray, making it look worn well before it should.

It’s important to educate owners about the proper way to care for their new carpet. After all, there are many things for them to consider as far as using the right vacuum cleaner. With enough information about which vacuum is best for their carpet, they will be able to make the right decision and keep the carpet looking its best.
